We are open on all holidays, with the exception of Poya Days (full moon holidays).

Casual or Smart Casual.

Our seating times are as follows:
Lunch:
12:00 noon to 2:00pm (Two-hour seating)
1:00pm to 3:00pm (Two-hour seating)
2:15pm to 4:15pm (Two-hour seating)
3:15pm to 5:15pm (Two-hour seating)
Dinner:
5:00pm – 7:00pm (Two-hour seating)
6:00pm – 8:00pm (Two-hour seating)
7:15pm – 9:15pm (Two-hour seating)

If I get late for my reservation, will you hold the table for me?
Apart from the 8:30pm and 9:30pm settings, we will not be able to hold your table for more than 15 minutes and longer delays will result in cancellation.
Am I allowed to smoke in your restaurant?
We are a non-smoking restaurant, but you can use the smoking area in the courtyard.
Are you a Halal restaurant?
We are not Halal certified, but we do not serve pork in our restaurant. Only our chicken is certified as Halal.
Do you have a vegetarian menu?
We have one vegetable starter, three vegetable sides and two vegetable rice dishes.
Why don’t you serve soft drinks (fizzy colas)?
Because they’re bad for you! Enjoy our amazing Iced Tea Soda and Shaken Thambilli with Lime (King Coconut Water), as well as our fresh fruit juices.
From where do you get your crabs?
Our crabs are sourced from the Northern coastal belt of Sri Lanka and are export quality Mud Crabs.
What is the most popular crab dish in your restaurant?
It is a tie between the Garlic Chilli Crab and Pepper Crab!
How do you get to the restaurant?
Ministry of Crab is located in the first courtyard of the Dutch Hospital Precinct, which is right across the street from the World Trade Centre in Colombo 1.
Is Ministry of Crab a Michelin-starred restaurant?
No, as Michelin has not rated any restaurants in Sri Lanka. However, Ministry of Crab was featured on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list from 2015 to 2022 and ranked on the Asia's 50 Best Restaurants: 51-100 Extended List in 2023 and 2024.
What are the types of payment you accept at the restaurant?
We accept cash, American Express, Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club, UnionPay and UPI payments.
Do you serve alcohol?
Yes, we do.
Do any dishes contain alcohol?
Alcohol is used only in the preparation of Crab Chawanmushi. Additionally, our Oyster Sixers have the option of being served with vodka on the side. If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, please check with our team for assistance.
Can we order for delivery?
No, we don’t offer delivery services.
